Thoughts on Japanese Valentines day
I think that Japanese Valentine's Day is a good idea. I like that women are expected to purchase chocolate for men. It is a nice role reversal that I think probably takes some of the pressure off of men to shower their wives and girlfriends with gifts around Valentine's Day. I also like that White Day exists too. I think it is a good idea to denote both sides of a relationship like that. It might be a bit unfair to women that they have to go first but somebody does and I feel like (at least in America) that kind of thing is normally the responsibility of men.

I never thought of it that way, but it does seem men have that responsibility to initiate the relationship. I like the idea as a outside test to see how many people think of you kindly. If you get lots of chocolate gifts the most likely you are treating the opposite sex kindly enough, or at least women think of you and care to give you something. I am sure this doens't happen often, but I wonder what it is like to get a gift in a one sided relationship, I would hope the akward moments aren't too long. What kind of gifts would you give girls in a Japanese mindset if you were in Japan during White Day?
